Why Learning Through Social Networks Is The Future

Why Learning Through Social Networks Is The Future

11 EdTech Bloggers To Follow in 2014

by Amy Wilson

"Looking for new ideas for how to use technology in your classroom in 2014?  Looking for colleagues to inspire your practice? Ideas to help integrate technology into your lesson plans? Look no further. One of the things we love most about teaching in the age of technology is the ability it gives educators to share innovation in the blogosphere and Twitterverse.  Connected educators can now share what's working (and not working) in their classrooms across the globe, quickly and easily.

"Here are some of the educators whose blogs and tweets we’ll be keeping an eye on in 2014."

Why Successful People Have So Many Groups Of Friends

fastcompany.com - While ideas may appear to be only in your head, it turns out they’re super social: Darwin talked about evolution for decades before publishing the Origin of Species. And while it might be you that gets the promotion, it’s your connections up, down, and across a company that predict performance. Why? Because ideas are like germs: they don’t diffuse through populations of people at random; they make their way through networks –that is, the relationships you have with people and the connections they have with others.

Can an App Change How Students Prep for College Admissions?

Prepify is a free, cloud-based software program that offers lessons in how to take standardized college entrance exams like the SAT and ACT.

While there are similar programs already out there — most notably Number2and INeedAPencil — Prepify differentiates itself by adapting to students’ progress in real time. If someone taking a Prepify lesson gets a question correct, it will then show him or her a more a difficult question. But, if the test-taker gets something wrong, the user will be directed back to more remedial work.

Prepify, which is still in the development stage, has tested the program on about two dozen kids, with each averaging up to a 100-point improvement on each of the three segments of the SAT.
